Environmental Site Manager - Mining – GM381

As Site Environmental Manager you will be responsible for ensuring all environmental site risks are identified, monitored and mitigated, minimising environmental impacts across operations.

Responsibilities
• Monitor and report on site Environmental progress and issues
• Ensure site compliance with all applicable law, regulations and corporate guidelines
• An overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development
• Ensure environmental systems and policies are implemented at site, working with the Environment Manager to design new systems and policies to improve environmental controls and reduce environmental impacts
• Ensure regular updates of the site EMP and related SOPs
• Assist with regular updating of environmental risk register and implementing appropriate responses
• Support or commission environmental studies as required (exploration, targeted investigations, etc.)
• Participate in Emergency and Incident Response Team (as required by those plans)
• Oversee the erosion & sediment control and water management program
• Implement a periodic site environmental inspections and audit program
• Manage the site environment department (staff, consultants, budget, equipment); ensure staff have the skills, guidance and logistics to perform their jobs
• Organise awareness and training of site personnel in the EMP, related roles and responsibilities, and related SOPs
• Facilitate external inspections by regulators and others as appropriate
• Ensure internal and external environmental reporting as required

Requirements
• Advanced degree in environmental science or management, mine-related discipline (geology, engineering, chemistry, etc) or related discipline
• French language fluency required, English highly desirable
• Team leadership, mentor-trainer
• Prior work experience in environmental management mandatory, preferably in tropics
• Extractive industry (esp. mining) knowledge highly desirable
• Experience working with non-environmentalists (construction, drillers, etc.)
• Experience in highly sensitive environments with high biodiversity highly desirable

Contract details
• FIFO Contract – 4/2 or 6/3
• 2 Year Contract with view to extend or option to take redeployment to alternative project
• Negotiable on pay + 30% tax free site allowance + bonus (also an option to take regular benefits available to permanent members of staff
