Our client is urgently seeking a Corporate Finance Manager who will be responsible for taking a lead role in the full range of corporate finance activities, including M&A, capital structure, capital investment analysis and appraisal, and long term/strategic financial planning. The role requires strategic thinking and a broad awareness of both the internal and external environment and how these impact one another.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Advise Group executives on whether potential investments (M&A or Capex) would add value and that the chosen methods of execution are the best solutions.
· Lead investment appraisal activity, providing transactional and evaluation support on acquisitions and disposals, formulating recommendations, and other analysis in support of group planning and decision-making
· At any point in time this Manager may have a number of live assignments.
· Provide analytical support to Group capital structure decision making, as well as implementation/execution thereof.
· The role will involve a degree of international travel and could give rise to future overseas assignments, depending on the outcome of company‘s aspirations for a second footprint.
· Manage the long-term financial planning and modelling work for the Group:
o development and management of sophisticated financial models
o interface with business units on long-term plans and life-of-mine models
o group valuation work
· Lead other ad-hoc analytical/modelling work to provide insights into critical decision factors.
· Advise project sponsors of the internal and external procedures and requirements that need to be met and to make sure that all appropriate advisers have been consulted for their views (Legal, Tax, Company Secretarial Investor Relations, Technical, Risk management, Treasury, Finance etc).
· Lead the thinking and analysis on project work, guiding and overseeing the work of the Corporate Finance Analyst.
· As well as leading the financial planning work, the Lead Manager will be expected to manage activity on a range of projects, with increased autonomy and larger projects as experience grows
· Provide transactional and evaluation support on acquisitions and disposals, leading transaction execution aspects as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
· Degree + CA(SA) and/or MBA and/or similar financial training program
· Post qualification experience in either investment banking, management consultancy, accounting firm or other corporate, with exposure to capital intensive industries.
· Experience of commercial, financial and legal elements of M&A process.
· Experience in investment appraisal activity in particular capital intensive long term investments.
· Experience in business valuations.
· Preparing and delivering senior level presentations.
