Our client – a leading gold mining company is in need of a Project Administrator at their corporate office in Johannesburg and please be advised that this a 10 month contract position

Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative assistance to the Navachab Expansion Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS) and Feasibility Study (FS) Team
  • Provide travel assistance when necessary for employees travelling
  • Make and coordinate meeting room bookings for the Navachab PFS and FS team
  • Mail distribution, organise couriers, fax collection and distribution
  • Process invoices and prepare purchase requisitions, receipting and reconcile expenditure commitments for the Navachab PFS and FS team.
  • Tracking and monitoring of the Mining Studies Team’s schedule  of work on a weekly and monthly basis
  • Administration of the Navachab PFS and FS Team including managing stationary requirements, coordinating office maintenance and minor modifications
  • Organise meetings including conference calls, external venues, catering, and presentation requirements as required.
  • Maintain document control systems for the Navachab PFS and FS Team, as per the Document Control system enabling prompt retrieval of documentation and archiving of documents appropriately.
  • Compiling and maintaining the Navachab PFS and FS Team List of contacts and networks
  • Manage incoming phone calls to the CARO Mining Studies Team
  • Editing and formatting the study documents as compiled by the Navachab PFS and FS team 
Requirements:

  • Formal business administration or project management qualification or relevant experience
  • Good computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and MS Project)
  • Excellent understanding of travel requirements into Africa.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Well organised and high attention to detail
  • Accurate typing and document proof reading
  • Previous experience or exposure to SAP would be advantageous

Social Labour Plan Consultant – Mining HR Consulting

The Social Labour Plan Consultant will be responsible for developing, monitoring and facilitating Social and Labour and Local Economic development plans for various clients and projects within the mining sector in South Africa.

Responsibilities
• Audit current HR practices and the requirements of the Minerals and Petroleum Resources Development Act (MPRDA), and other existing Labour/ Employment Equity legislation.
• Develop Social and Labour plans through consultation and analysis.
• Design the framework required to support the Social and Labour plans, including (ABET, Training, Skills Development Plans, Employment Equity Plans etc.)
• Ensure the effective implementation of the Social and Labour plans.
• Continuously monitor the success of the Social Labour plans and ensure that reports are produced on time and with the correct information.
• Liaise and consult with key stakeholders such as local communities and municipalities.
• Develop and obtain sign off of local economic development plans for various projects.
• Build and maintain internal and external relationships (For E.g. Clients, laboratories, other departments, government etc.)

Requirements
• HRM Degree – post graduate degree preferred
• At least three to four years HR, Local Economic Development or community liaison experience within a mining environment

Responsibilities
• Provides expert advice to Operations on all aspects of Critical Risk Management.

• Conducts specific audits and inspections at Operations to ensure that Critical Risk mitigatory strategies and actions are effectively implemented.
• Assists Operations in documenting and controlling Critical Risks through training, facilitation and assessments.
• Provides expert assistance to the Asset and Operations on all aspects of the Fatal Risk Control Standard.

• Facilitates self-assessment programs at Operations.
• Periodically compile and analyse Fatal Risk Control assessments from Operations.
• Interfaces between Operations, and ensures that leading practises are implemented across all Operations.

Technical Manager – Mineral Processing and Analysis – GM387

My client is currently seeking a Technical Manager to take responsibility for all mineral sampling and analysis for their clients across the mining industry.

Responsibilities
• Develop and Maintain the Technical Methods and SOP’s to execute the sampling and or analysis of non-ferrous concentrates, blister and cathode copper, iron ore, ferro-alloys, fertilizers etc..
• Become the primary point of contact for clients and staff involved in the sales or execution of business for technical questions / solutions related to existing or future work
• Work with affiliate Minerals Managers to ensure they can execute the scope of work requested by our clients in a professional manner that meets all applicable international standards (ISO, ASTM, etc.)
• Establish new locations to defined standards
• Auditing of existing facilities
• Classroom and hands-on, field training of SGS operational staff
• Act as the primary contact and delegate to the relevant ISO committees and working groups active in this field

You will need:
• A minimum of five years experience within the mining industry or with a recognised international technical services company related to the sampling and or analysis of the commodity groups detailed above.
• Strong working knowledge of ISO sampling methods and ISO 17020 / 17025
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Working knowledge of languages other than English would be an advantage – French, Spanish, Portuguese
• Ability to carry out extensive travel within a global business
Experience working in a high pressure environment with a demanding client base

Responsibilities:
