The incumbent will be expected to do Geological modelling and estimate grades. Assistance with QA/QC and Model reconciliations will be expected, and support for the Geological drillhole database must be provided. Final reports for most project work will be expected at high level.

Desired Qualifications:
§ Relevant tertiary education - BSc Geology (Hons.)

Experience:
§  Minimum of 10 years appropriate experience including Exploration, Mining and a minimum of 5 years Resource Evaluation experience
§  JORC competent
§  Experience in coal is essential
§  Previous consulting experience is advantageous

A Swiss based company with a new patented product for the underground mining industry is seeking a Product Trainer/Implementation Manager to build product awareness, market and develop new business for the product. The successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation of a new technology in the Underground Mining Industry in Australia and South Africa for a global operational company.
This position will be based in South Africa and the candidate will be required to travel to Australia as well
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Mining Project Director – Copper

My client, currently conducting pre-feasibility studies for a copper mine in Southern Africa, is seeking the services of a seasoned mining professional with some 15 years of progressive experience to take full responsibility for moving the project from feasibility phases to production. This position will be based in Johannesburg with regular travel to Southern Africa regions.

Responsibilities
• Establishment and management of a regional office
• Assuming a leadership position in advancing project development from completion of the preliminary economic assessment (PEA) through Bankable Feasibility (BFS), financing and construction
• Overseeing the ongoing delineation drilling and regional exploration program
• Managing the technical aspects of ongoing feasibility engineering work (geology, metallurgy, mining and infrastructure engineering) through “in-house” engineering and the use of external consultants and engineers
• Managing environmental and socioeconomic studies comprising the ongoing project EIA
• Maintaining regulatory compliance and ongoing interaction with government officials in preparation for acquiring the mining license and permits required for development and operations
• Working closely with corporate management in discussions with mining analysts, investors and financial advisors in keeping the markets up to date in project status and ongoing financing discussions.
• Develops policies and procedures relating to safety, the environment and the individual and organizational development

Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology or related discipline
• Progressive 15 years’ experience in hard rock mining industry at various levels of responsibility
• Expert level knowledge of technical and project documentation, local statutory reporting standards for mining industry, local statutory requirements for permitting documentation
• Formal professional designation in appropriate area of expertise
• Excellent leadership and management skills are a must
• Intimate understanding of all technical aspects of open pit and underground mining operations

Regional Operations Manager – Mineral Labs

As Operations Manager you will take full control of Laboratory Operations across the African region with particular focus on Succession Planning, Business Growth, Client Management and QA/QC of all labs in the region.

Responsibilities
• Ensure that the quality of analytical data produced is maintained at a level that meets or exceeds divisional targets
• Ensure that laboratory equipment is of the standard required to meet or exceed targets
• Assessing the results of QA / QC audits and implement improvements as required
• Ensuring the laboratories are suitably equipped and staffed, and using approved methodologies to provide a quality service to the clients
• Continually assess the laboratories to increase productivity and efficiency through equipment upgrading, method enhancements, or implementation of new technology

• Other duties related to the successful operation and administration of the Laboratories

Requirements
• Minimum 5-10 years experience in Laboratory processes, management, business development or customer services. A background in either the mineral or environmental analytical markets is highly desirable
• A bachelor level tertiary qualification in Science, Engineering, Geology or extensive BD experience in a related field. Preference will be given to applicants with Post-graduate qualifications in Chemical Sciences/Management
• Experience in managing small to large sized teams made up of technical and administrative staff

Technical Blasting Officer – Surface Blasting

I am seeking a Blasting Officer to manage all surface/open pit blasting activities for my clients Gauteng operations.

Responsibilities
• Providing customer with technical expertise on blasting activities
• Manages storage, deployment, and placement of bulk explosives and accessories on site within the requirements of the Explosives Act and Regulations and the Mines & Works Act and Regulations
• Carry out blast planning and delivers effective blast design solutions when required
• Overseeing and supervising priming, charging, stemming and tie up or timing (Logging of electronic initiation systems) operations on the bench on a daily basis
• Supervising and managing mining operations related to blasting such as drilling and bench preparation
• Provides daily written feedback to the customer in the form of a Blast Return, on the results of each blast performed as required by the customer
• Be responsible for all legal requirements related to blasting operations as the Certified Blaster
• Be aware of the requirements of the environmental management system and understand the impact of his activities, products and services and the requirements of the relevant operating instructions to minimize the impact on the environment

Requirements
• The minimum requirements are matriculation and/or relevant trade (N3)
• Blasting Certificate for Opencast Mines
• 2 Year experience of blasting on a surface mine,
• Valid drivers license
• Red-ticket
• Surface Explosives Engineers Course
