Maintenance Foreman – Mine Housing & Infrastructure – Northern Cape

As Maintenance/Housing Foreman you will be responsible for the effective and preventative maintenance management of all housing and offices as well as infrastructure systems and equipment to limit failure and optimize life span

Responsibilities
• The role will need you to ensure that actual costs are within the boundaries set by the manpower and operational budget, and that all business and maintenance units adhere to and comply with corporate governance, statutory, legal and other requirements
• Effective and preventative maintenance management of all housing and offices as well as infrastructure systems and equipment to limit failure and optimize life span will form part of your responsibilities
• Proactively keep abreast of new developments and identify potential threats within designated areas
• You will be required to benchmark maintenance activities and track performance in order to indicate improvement opportunities as well as ensuring that work ethics are of such a nature that workers continuously strive towards improving their own performance.
• The role will be subject to Appointment 2.9.2 to ensure SHEQ responsibilities are adhered to as set out in the Mine Health and Safety Act.

Requirements
• Grade 12/N3 qualification, trade certificate (Mechanical or Electrical) as well as a N4 qualification
• Wireman's license
• At least 4 year's relevant experience
• Medically fit
• Computer literate in Microsoft Office
• Good knowledge of SHEQ policies

XRF Laboratory Manager – Mining

As Laboratory Manager/Overseer you will take responsibility for the XRF Laboratory staff and all associated result verifications. This is an exciting role where the successful candidate will be instrumental in obtaining ISO 17025 accreditation for my clients operations.

Responsibilities
• Responsible for the sampling and preparation systems, Robolab, AR-labs XRF9800 machine and AR-labs XRF9800 PLUS machine
• Implementation of QA standards and preparation of documentation to obtain ISO 17025 accreditation
• Perform wet chemical, water and screen analysis
• Verification of sampling systems and preparation as well as calibration of On-line Iron scans
• Internal quality control
• Coordinate small projects with regard to quality processes, technology and equipment
• Coach technicians-in-training and conduct technical development
• The position carries a legal responsibility (2.6.1 appointment)

Requirements

• 5 years laboratory experience and 3 years management experience

• Provides expert advice to Operations on all aspects of Critical Risk Management.
• Assesses Critical Risk processes for accuracy, effectiveness and practicality.
• Conducts specific audits and inspections at Operations to ensure that Critical Risk mitigatory strategies and actions are effectively implemented.
• Assists Operations in documenting and controlling Critical Risks through training, facilitation and assessments.
• Provides expert assistance to the Asset and Operations on all aspects of the Fatal Risk Control Standard.
• Monitors and measures the implementation and application of Fatal Risk Controls at Operations and ensure effectiveness.
• Facilitates self-assessment programs at Operations.
• Periodically compile and analyse Fatal Risk Control assessments from Operations.
• Interfaces between Operations, and ensures that leading practises are implemented across all Operations.

Requirements
• Relevant health, hygiene, safety or environmental qualification
• At least 5 years professional HSE experience within a mining environment
• An excellent understanding of risk management and risk management processes
• Significant experience in Coal Mining and understands the nature of opportunities and issues faced by operations.
• Demonstrable drive for results
• Proven ability to solve problems and deal with ambiguity
• Ability to communicate effectively and passionately at all levels
• The ability to challenge, motivate, inspire and influence at all levels to achieve desired HSE outcomes
• South African citizenship

• Based in Johannesburg with regular travel to various mine sites

Technical Manager – Mineral Processing and Analysis – GM387

My client is currently seeking a Technical Manager to take responsibility for all mineral sampling and analysis for their clients across the mining industry.

Responsibilities
• Develop and Maintain the Technical Methods and SOP’s to execute the sampling and or analysis of non-ferrous concentrates, blister and cathode copper, iron ore, ferro-alloys, fertilizers etc..
• Become the primary point of contact for clients and staff involved in the sales or execution of business for technical questions / solutions related to existing or future work
• Work with affiliate Minerals Managers to ensure they can execute the scope of work requested by our clients in a professional manner that meets all applicable international standards (ISO, ASTM, etc.)
• Establish new locations to defined standards
• Auditing of existing facilities
• Classroom and hands-on, field training of SGS operational staff
• Act as the primary contact and delegate to the relevant ISO committees and working groups active in this field

You will need:
• A minimum of five years experience within the mining industry or with a recognised international technical services company related to the sampling and or analysis of the commodity groups detailed above.
• Strong working knowledge of ISO sampling methods and ISO 17020 / 17025
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Working knowledge of languages other than English would be an advantage – French, Spanish, Portuguese
• Ability to carry out extensive travel within a global business
Experience working in a high pressure environment with a demanding client base

Contract details:
• There are two permanent positions available. 1 to be based in Geneva and the other to be based in either South or West Africa

Chief Safety Officer - Mining Operations - Northern Cape

You will be responsible for the assurance that the mine conforms to all OHSAS 18001 requirements as well as establishing and maintaining of a safety culture amongst all workers.

Responsibilities
• The assurance that the mine conforms to all OHSAS 18001 requirements
• Establishing and maintaining of a safety culture amongst all workers
• Monitoring, controlling & management of financial planning & expenditure to maximise return on investment in terms of safety
• Human resources are applied and deployed in a way that will maximise the benefit to the business as well as to themselves
• All subordinates are competent to deliver the outputs of their jobs
• Work ethics are of such a nature that workers continuously strive towards improving their own performance
• A safe and healthy work environment exists where workers can deliver their outputs within a controlled risk environment
• Development and monitoring of strategic safety initiatives
• Completion and submission of all statistics, reports and documents to internal and external stakeholders
• Engagement with external stakeholders

You will need:
• 5 – 10 yrs experience on a producing mine
• Must have a National Diploma in Safety Management or B.Tech
• Valid drivers license
• Applicant must be able to pass medical fitness certification for this position

Contract details:
