Responsibilities:

Requirements:

                      5 years rock engineering experience (with 2 years relevant deep-level mining experience)
                      Good interpersonal skills
                      Ability and experience to lead and manage staff reporting to the position

Safety Officer x2 – Open Cast Mining

My client requires an experienced mining safety officer to ensure that safety inspections are conducted across the mining operations thus ensuring compliance to OHSAS 18001 requirements

RESPONSIBILITIES
• You will need to ensure that safety inspections are conducted in the allocated areas to ensure that the Mine complies to OHSAS 18001 and legal requirements
• Implement approved operational/functional strategies
• You will also be responsible that in-depth investigations into all reported incidents are done to determine the direct, sub- and underlying causes and the reporting to the relevant authorities
• Regular analysis of safety statistics to determine trends in order to focus on shortcomings, poor performing areas and enable informed decisions along with the conducting of monthly scheduled OHSAS 18001 audits
• Attend regular SHEQ meetings
• Training and coaching of workers in the requirements of OHSAS 18001, BBS; STEP; VFL; etc.

REQUIREMENTS
• You will need a National Diploma in Safety Management
• Minimum 5 year's experience as a Safety Officer in an open cast mine
• Certificates in NOSA, SAMTRAC, MBO & IT or COMSOC are required
• Member of the institute of Safety Management and legally appointed on 2.17.1 and 2.17.4
• Knowledge of Mine, Health and Safety Act, managerial skills and the ability to display a healthy administrative responsibility
• Leadership, communication and persuasive skills as well the skill to think analytically
• Possession of a code 08 drivers Licence
• Able to obtain a Medical Fitness Certificate

I am seeking an experienced Quality Specialist with experience in either a production or laboratory environment to champion the Quality Management Systems on behalf of my client.

Responsibilities
• Assist with strategic planning for quality in the Southern Africa region
• Champion the implementation and facilitation of the quality management system
• Assist with strategic accreditation and certification processes
• Conduct ISO 9001, ISO 17025 and ISO 17020 quality system audits
• Provide quality related training as required
• Monitor the effectiveness of improvement systems
• Assist with management reviews
• Provide constant feedback to relevant business line managers on status of quality
• Assist with the creation of evaluation material for the quality system and accreditation body regulatory documents
• Lead, coach and develop designated staff at different sites in Southern Africa region
• Plan, schedule and perform internal audits
• Compile audit reports with findings and observations
• Evaluate the effectiveness of corrective and preventative actions taken
• Initiate a formal improvement request when a deviation of the system occurs, possible improvements are identified or when nonconformity is identified.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:
      Maintaining, draft and review of all identifiable engineering discipline specific standards
      Represent the Asset at all statutory and/or standards generating bodies with your specific Engineering discipline; this will include but not be limited to SANS, SACEA, SACPS, DMR and COM
      Deliver, where required, discipline specific input into the Engineering Technology Plan
      Detailed design and authorization of any discipline specific Engineering designs required by the Asset/Operations
      Reviewing compliance to applicable Engineering discipline specific standards at Asset/Operations

Requirements:

      Ability to identify and assess key operational Engineering risk factors and problems at an early stage
      ECSA Registered Professional Engineer with specific discipline
      In-depth knowledge of maintenance, processing and mining methods specifically related to U/G and O/C Operations
      Great interpersonal skills and proven “Team Player”
      Proven ability to solve problems and deal with ambiguity
      Engineering (specific discipline) exposure and demonstrable previous results
      Experience in coal mining industry will be an added advantage
      Accredited South African Colliery Engineers Association member
