The Senior Metallurgist is responsible for managing all the analysis/test work using flotation technologies/principals whilst overseeing the daily operations of the department.
Responsibilities
• Design and costing of metallurgical testwork programmes in liaison with client and participate in project decision making
• Management and control of metallurgical testwork (bench and pilot) to ensure timely, accurate and cost effective completion
• Extensive Report writing , data control/processing and reporting of testwork according to company guidelines with minimal input from the Line Manager
• Evaluation of results and interpretation
• Management, training and direction of subordinates in quality, testwork methodology, safety and time management and enhance productivity
• Apply accepted validation techniques to ensure confidence in test results
• Assist in development and validation of methods
• Management of existing client base, and generation of new business from new and existing clients
• Assist Metallurgical Manager in formulation and execution of business and strategic planning.
• Meet company targets with respect to turnover, quality and safety
• Responsible for Health and Safety within Section
• Budget forecasts are compiled, submitted and controlled
• Responsible for effective and appropriate use of equipment, facilities and good housekeeping
Requirements
• Degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering
• At least 5 years experience working with PGM’s
• Experience with Gold and Copper Flotation will be an advantage
• Team Management and Supervision experience
• Knowledge on Health and Safety procedures, First aid
• Highly conscious about contaminations
