Senior Lab Technician – Method Validation - KwaZulu Natal

The Senior Lab Technician shall assist the Laboratory Supervisor with the co-ordination of most Laboratory activities. The incumbent will also assist the QHSE Department with all quality related functions of the Laboratory, in particular, Method validations and training

Responsibilities:
• To perform routine analysis when required
• To perform Method Validation & UOM
• To ensure the optimal functioning of the Gas Chromatographs, Atomic absorption Spectrometer, UV Spectrophotometer and all other critical analytical equipment
• To ensure that critical stocks of laboratory consumables are maintained to ensure the optimal functioning of the Laboratory at all times
• To ensure that the Laboratory equipment and reagents to be used for analysis are available and are correct as per requirements of the method/procedure
• To ensure that the Laboratory’s ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 Accreditations are maintained by supporting the QHSE Department with internal audits and other quality requirements
• To report immediately any non conformances, deficiencies and malfunctions to the Laboratory Manager
• Monitor the performance and training of Laboratory Technicians and retain appropriate records
• To enforce PPE usage in the Laboratory
• To perform sampling and inspections when requested
• To liaise with Clients regarding requests, requirements and queries
• To maintain continuity of Laboratory services in the absence of the Laboratory Manager
• To train new Laboratory Technicians and maintain appropriate records

Requirements
• Minimum of 3 years industrial experience working in an ISO 17025 Accredited Petroleum/chemical related laboratory
• Experience in method Validation and Uncertainty of Measurement
• Minimum academic qualification is a National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license
• Certificate in Method validation & or Statistics
