XRF Head of Department – GM290

I am seeking an XRF Specialist to join my clients operations at a Head of Department level. In this senior level role you will be responsible for the day to day supervision, coordination and operation of the XRF department.

Responsibilities:
• Responsible for planning, reviewing and monitoring of capital, revenue and expense budgeting
• Responsible for sample routing, formulating changes, improving work flow and maximum utilization of resources in the departments
• Coordinate Method Development and Method Validation
• Responsible for effective and appropriate use of equipment and facilities
• Responsible for development, effective utilization and supervision of human resources within the department, including training, recruitment and discipline
• Keep abreast of new trends, current development in Analytical Science
• Client liaison
• Assist with results evaluation
• Determine, manage and drive initiatives in order to implement and monitor accreditation requirements as per ISO17025 requirements
• Responsible for Health and Safety within the XRF department
• Ensure that company policies are adhered to by the staff
• Comply and conform to the QHSE policy of the company
• Must be fully acquainted with the LIMS system
• Ensure the lab complies and conforms to ISO17025 and SANAS
• Adhere to all quality and safety requirements

Requirements
• B.Sc, BTech or National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry
• At least 5 years management level experience in a mining/metals environment
• Solid Management/Senior Supervisory experience
• Good co-ordination and management skills
