Carbon and Climate Manager – GM354

My client operating within the Climate Change and Energy Sector is currently seeking an established and strategically focused Senior Manager to manage their Carbon and Climate Change Business Unit on a 3 year contract. You will be responsible for guiding their expansion in this market whilst ensuring business operations are efficient and effective.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Development and review of an updated corporate plan in line with company mandates, policies and procedures
• Implements the Corporate plan and achieve KPIs
• Project origination (CDM projects, acquisition of clients for climate change related consultancy)
• Produce multi-year plans, budgets and reports
• Promote and facilitate business alignment with key policy changes
• Day to day operations management
• Plan and prepare for conferences and regional events
• Maintain regular updates on key national and international policies and Acts that may affect the core business operations
• Identify new business opportunities that will provide a revenue stream
• Maintain liaison with counterparts of relevant key stakeholders such as civil society organizations, networks, research institutions and the media for joined up work, and as sources of sector knowledge and information
• Assist the local DNA with country programmes related to CDM and climate change agendas including advocating relevant activities
• Information management and support

REQUIREMENTS
• An acknowledged tertiary qualification in Environmental Sciences, Business Management or equivalent
• 3-5 years experience of working in the CDM and climate change sector
• Programme and project planning, and progress reporting
• An understanding of technical and policy issues of the UNFCCC and its relevant tools, protocols, accords etc
• Working as part of a diverse professional and multicultural team
• Financial planning, budgeting and monitoring.
• CDM project management
• Strong understanding of the Kyoto Protocol and its tools
• Strong understanding of the carbon, climate change and energy markets
• Strong oral and written skills especially in report writing and general communication in English (additional languages a bonus)

CONTRACT INFORMATION
• 3 Year fixed term contract
