An international coal producing mining giant is urgently seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join their South African operations team

RESPONSIBILITIES:

        Helping in the draft, review and maintenance of all known relevant Strata Control standards
        Be assistance in the benchmark of relevant Strata Control functional methodology, processes and systems
        Compliant to the Strata Control Plan
        Offer assistance in the detailed design and sequencing of Strata Control activities to be performed by the Operations function.
        Conceptualise and document the agreement of actionable relevant Strata Control plans with Operational personnel
        Report Operational Strata Control performance achieved and compliance to detailed plan
        Participation in auditing compliance to relevant Strata Control standards at Asset/Operations
        Report any relevant Strata Control standard changes into Asset/Operations

REQUIREMENTS:
        Relevant Engineering Tertiary qualification
        Be an ECSA Registered Professional Certified Engineer with specific discipline
        8 years relevant experience
        Should have production roof support experience on Operations
        In-depth knowledge of mining methods specifically related to O/C high wall Operations
        and U/G roof support
        Ability to identify and assess key operational Strata Control discipline specific risk factors and problems at an early stage
        Great interpersonal skills and proven “Team Player”
        Problem solver and ability to deal with ambiguity
        Strata Control Engineering exposure and demonstrable previous results
        Experience in coal mining industry is an advantage
        Be an accredited discipline specific Professional association member
