Plant Engineering Superintendent - Industrial Minerals

Our client is currently seeking a Plant Engineering and Production Superintendent who will lead and transform the manufacturing plant into high performing unit, delivering volume, quality, customer and staff satisfaction at the lowest total cost of operation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent will report to the General Manager and will be responsible for the following:

• Manage and coordinate all resources and processes to maximise the productivity of daily production in terms of quality standards, production volumes, yields, costs and lost time.
• Develop, process, interpret and communicate key operational results in respect of Production/Maintenance
• Lead, organize and control the allocated Production Line(s) including required resources such as manpower/personnel, machines/equipment in order to meet established production requirements at the agreed efficiency.
• Ensure that production tonnages targets are met by comparing actual with set objectives, in order to identify and eliminate shortcomings.
• Manage plant availability, Utilization, OEE, Yield and Continuous Improvement( WCM)
• Ensure that employees are suitably qualified by frequently reviewing their competency, thereby establishing training needs/requirements to ensure a competent work force
• Delegating/controlling the tasks for preventative maintenance checks on all machines, vehicles and equipment
• Ensure that the general plant maintenance is done, by ensuring that adequate controls and systems are in place to monitor same.
• Manage expenditures to meet or beat AOP, justifying over expenditure
• Manage actual capital expenditure to meet or beat a CAPEX plan justifying over expenditure
• Define, communicate and ensure implementation of adequate corrective preventative measures, especially in case of not achieving the plant objectives, to ensure that the plant availability is constantly improved
• Accountable for the compliance of all legal requirements, both inside the maintenance workshop and during maintenance tasks outside the workshop, as stipulated in the OHS Act
• Conduct disciplinary enquiries and consultation sessions to ensure that subordinates comply with the policy and procedure.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Have a recognized Academic or Professional qualification, National Diploma, BTech in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, GCC( Government Certificate of Competency) will be a distinct advantage
• Min 5 years’ experience as a Production or Maintenance Manager in the manufacturing environment.
• A post graduate qualification in Business Management will be a distinct advantage.
• Have experience or background in Plant Operations, Have intimate knowledge and application of management planning and control techniques and Show high integrity
• An in depth understanding of milling manufacturing process will be an advantage.

Technical knowledge, resourcefulness, drive for results, team work, decision making, motivational fit, problem solving, vigilance , delegating, work under pressure and Integrity.
