Engineering Services Superintendent – Heavy Vehicles & Hydraulics - South Africa

This position exists to provide Engineering expertise, control and co-ordination of Engineering Maintenance, World Class SHE, Training and field breakdown support services to plants and Mobile Manufacturing Units (MMU’s).

The role:
• The position is accountable for the availability of a fleet of MMU’s, and associated in-pit vehicles
• The position is responsible for the Maintenance of Engineering, World Class, SHE and Training Standards for a Region.
• The position is accountable for the drawing up of and adherence to maintenance budgets and schedules.
• The position is responsible for drawing up, scheduling and implementation of engineering maintenance training modules for Field Superintendents and MMU Controllers.
• The position is responsible for maintaining a fast field support service to Plants and MMU’s at the mine.
• The position will oversee work performed by contractors to ensure that it complies with Company requirements and is to acceptable levels of quality and cost.
• This position will provide a fast response field support function
• The incumbent will have total expertise in the engineering technology used in the fixed and mobile equipment including:
o Heavy vehicle maintenance and operation
o Manufacturing and explosives technology
o Emulsification technology
o Bulk materials handling
o Contractor supervision
o Microprocessor control systems
o Proportional closed loop hydraulic systems
o Control loop dynamics.
• The position may be called on from time to time to assist with field support into other regions.
• The position is also responsible for the all safety mechanisms on all plant and MMU’s. This will require regular trip tests and time outs.
• To assist MMU Controllers with calibration on their respected MMU’s.

Requirements:
• Engineering Technician T3, with at least 2 years experience or N5 with at least 5 years experience at a supervisory level in engineering maintenance field.
• Good interpersonal skills
• Experience in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance, Hydraulic Systems and have demonstrated competence in PLC and microprocessor control systems and with electro-mechanical and electro-hydraulic interfaces.
