Senior Resource Geologist - Russia

The incumbent will be expected to do Geological modelling and estimate grades. Assistance with QA/QC and Model reconciliations will be expected, and support for the Geological drillhole database must be provided. Final reports for most project work will be expected at high level.

Desired Qualifications:

§ Relevant tertiary education - BSc Geology (Hons.)

Experience:

§  Minimum of 10 years appropriate experience including Exploration, Mining and a minimum of 5 years Resource Evaluation experience

§  JORC competent

§  Experience in coal is essential

§  Previous consulting experience is advantageous

Skills:

§ Technical skills: Resource assessment, QA/QC knowledge, Resource Estimation and Reporting, Mine reconciliation

§ Management skills: Reporting, Communication, Planning, Mentoring etc.

§ Commercial skills: Project review deal negotiation, Project development and Operational experience

§ Must be culturally aware

Requirements

Open pit mining exposure is a must, preferably in a coal environment

Responsibilities

As COO you will define and organize the structure and the processes of my client’s activities in order to allow the growth of the business. The position covers current and future activities for the whole of Southern Africa spanning 12 countries including Angola, DRC, Madagascar etc.

Responsibilities:
• Management of all execution and logistics team (6 people but growing), international and domestic contracts, supervision of agent business, domestic logistics, and stocks controls; grow team and increase skills
• Manage toll crush, industrial assets and warehouse activity, supervise staff and implement controls process
• Implement and grow structure, processes, reporting, KPIs. Align Operation, IT and Industrial activities with the group’s standard and ensure that all offices are compliant to the group’s reporting and structural requirements
• Ensure optimum efficiency between finance, trading and operations processes to allow business development
• Contribute to the development of an asset base, with a key focus on metals and oil-related assets (logistics and processing), and more specifically:
o contribute to the preparation of new investments from an operational, process and control perspective;
o lead the implementation of new projects and businesses from an operational perspective;
• Create, maintain and nurture high level relationship with key official bodies (e.g. Customs, Port authorities, Inland revenue)
• Contribute to the preparation and implementation of the Growth Strategy for Southern Africa with the General Manager

Requirements:
• 10 to 15 years of experience in similar business environment
• 5 years of management experience
• Previous metals and / or industrial management is a strong advantage
• Strong organization skills, with expertise in process improvement and multiple tasks coordination
• Proven leadership and management skills
• Ability to work in a high-pressure atmosphere on a daily basis
• Effective communication skills, both written and oral, in English,
• Self-starter with ability to work independently with minimal supervision
