Vice President Projects – Diamond Mining

Responsible for all project and development evaluation aspects of the company’s operations. Provide leadership and coordination in the administrative, business planning, and project management aspects of the company.

Responsibilities
• Plan, lead, and deliver on key projects that enable economic returns and achieve operational excellence in support of the growth objectives of the Company
• Responsible for defining project scope and objectives, develop work plans, schedules, estimates, resource plans and status reports
• Work directly as a member of the executive team to ensure the needs and expectations-regarding communication, budget, approach, results, and timing are met
• Lead cross-functional teams, working with all relevant stakeholders to refine strategy, gather and document requirements and identify potential impact in terms of results (cost, quality, timeliness) and process/operations, technology, organization (including people), finances
• Interface with stakeholders and senior management to confirm project sponsorship and support, agree strategy, and report progress, achievements, significant issues and risks
• Work with Operations, Technology, and Business Unit stakeholders to understand their priorities and make sure that they are represented correctly
• Demonstrate strong program and project governance and delivery skills – initiation, planning, execution, status reporting, financials, stakeholder management, resource management, risks, issues, dependencies and prioritization
• Recommend cost-effective solutions to address business challenges and/or opportunities
• Ensure that effective project management governance, procedures, tools and financial controls are established and maintained for the program’s operations
• Ensure all participants are clear on project goals, benefits, methods, roles and responsibilities are well understood

Requirements
• The ideal candidate will possess an executive-level presence; experience in leading an engineering team of 10+ professionals with the requisite management and communication skills
• A quality background in project management, engineering-mechanical, mine operations; plus the understanding of the profit component of business
• A successful background in project management, being well organized, detail oriented with excellent technical writing skills
• The ability to communicate at all levels with clients and within the management team; and, a current Professional Engineering designation and PMP credentials
• Shall posses the ability to motivate teams to produce quality deliverables within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects. Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings
• Shall be able to manage multiple work streams simultaneously
• Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule. Regular travel to operational sites will be required
