Business Unit Manager - GeoChemistry

You will be responsible for implementing Corporate Business Policies whilst planning and achieving objectives and budgetary targets.

Responsibilities
• To ensure that company and group policies are implemented
• Plan and develop business services, including new services, in all parts of Southern Africa in collaboration with the minerals business development team
• To project and help in achieving budgetary targets in all activities , Monitoring and periodic reporting of budgetary performance, detect reasons for shortfall, if any, and take measures to correct this situation.
• Development of technical capabilities, recruitment and training of personnel, in different skills/areas, as may be required at a given place.
• Liaise with respective product and regional VPs and other affiliates in exchanging information promoting services
• Market Studies/Research, Identification of Business Opportunities, Planning Strategies for Promotion, Marketing and Publicity of the minerals services
• Administration of contracts and determination and review of rates and services conditions, and help in framing/concluding new contracts
• Customer management individually as well as in association with product /regional VPs, Managing Director and Business Development Manager.
• Ensure that the company’s Quality Assurance Programme is implemented and maintained.
• Maintain full communication channel to the Regional MD and ensure that the Regional MD is kept current and informed on all aspects of Operations that have any direct or indirect impact on HSE and Quality
• Actively participate in Quality Improvement Projects
• Assess need and organise Internal Audits of operations and minerals laboratories
• To work with the Regional Managing Director Southern Africa and VP Minerals Africa so as to maximise business returns whilst minimising exposure and risk for the company.

Requirements
• University degree in a Science related program with a strong preference in Geochemistry or a related Field is required
• Proficiency in various types of computer software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, CCLAS)
• Minimum of 10 years experience in a minerals laboratory/trade environment
• Expert working knowledge of the mining and minerals industry
• Strong leadership and management skills with a demonstrated ability to lead and manage people
