Cross-Border Logistics Manager – Mining – GM396

My client, a mining contracting company, is seeking an established Logistics Manager to oversee and manage all cross-border logistics from South Africa to Mozambique. This is a great opportunity to join an organisation experiencing great growth throughout the African continent.

Requirements
• Relevant tertiary qualification
• At least 10 years logistics experience with at least 5 years managing cross-border logistics, preferably to Mozambique
• Excellent cross border freight forwarding and clearing experience
• Experience on the warehousing side – receiving, dispatch etc
• Team management/leadership experience
• Experience in mining is highly advantageous
• SAP knowledge is an added bonus
• Portuguese language skills highly advantageous

Contract Status
• This is a permanent role to be based in South Africa. My client requires South African nationals
• Flexibility to travel will be required as the incumbent will visit various locations in Mozambique on a regular basis

Senior LabourRelations Specialist – Mining - Johannesburg

An international mining giant is urgently seeking a Labour Relations Senior Specialist to provide support to the Vice President of Human Resources by managing the labour relations.


Requirements:
•   A Bachelor’s degree in industrial psychology or labour relations
•   4 years’ professional experience involving collective bargaining or administrative hearings in the personnel field
·         Including 2 years involving part-taking in collective bargaining negotiations within an Africa francophone environment
 •    This role requires extensive travel into remote areas in Africa.


Responsibilities:
•    To coordinate the company’s implementation of its Labour Relations Model that integrates  labour policy, principles, guidelines for negotiating collective bargaining agreements and stakeholder engagement which is aligned with company values, global agreements and company’s strategy such as the International Federation of Chemical, Engery, Mine and General Workers Union (ICEM).
•    Advise on preparation for annual or bi-annual wage mandating processes within company considering past arbitration grievances and decisions and analyse their effect on pending negotiations
•    For specific advice in collective bargaining negotiations and processes that requires familiarisation with economic, wage data and extensive knowledge of labour law and collective bargaining procedures to avoid costly litigation, strikes or other disruptions
•    Provide technical specialist advice to management of complaints resulting from disputes with employees, i.e. labour relations matters
•    Monitor and record keeping of all collective bargaining agreements across the company’s African continental region
•    Keeps track on new changes on to labour laws, arbitration decisions and anything else that may affect union-management relations
•    Screen business units in respect of stakeholder engagement plans and progress against plans
•    Coordinate capacity building programs pertaining to optimising labour relations /stakeholder engagement programs.

Occupational HygieneSpecialist - Mining – KZN

An Occupational Hygiene Specialist to provide support to an international mining consulting company’s laboratories and customers across Africa.

Responsibilities:

Drive new business and business expansion in Africa through the identification of opportunities for new and expanded services.

· Using results of tests, ensure that customers understand and use company results effects, deepening customer relations

· Reporting to Business Environmental Manager

· Training and staff development

· Develop and train personnel in the implementation of ISO17025 quality systems

· Practical quality assurance

· Plan campaigns from equipment selection, to site work, to lab management, to reporting

· Manage a geographically distributed team through visit and telephone/email communication

· Training of staff in the use of testing equipment and interpretation of the results of tests to improve understanding and quality control

· Ensure that best practice is applied in the sampling and testing throughout the company Africa network of Affiliates

· Mentor staff through an occupational hygiene accreditation scheme

· Specification of equipment in conjunction with the Environmental Team, identify equipment and accessories for testing and local Affiliate and the Global Quality Manager, ensure that the quality of results meets company internal Profile

· Respond to customer queries in new areas and assist staff with templates for occupational hygiene investigations and interpretation of non-standard data sets

Requirements:

· Degree in Chemistry or Public Health and accreditation Occupational Hygienist (under scheme recognised by IOHA)

· 10 years’ air quality and emission-testing experience

· Work in developing countries

· Knowledge on site work requirements and shipping of equipment to remote locations

· Competent at presentation of reports and papers relevant to air quality management and testing

· Thorough understanding of air testing quality control and standard methods current including developing analytical technologies

· Fluency in English, with French and Portuguese advantageous

· Conduct discussions with customers and trainee field staff on interpretation of diagnostic results
