Logistics Coordinator - Commodities Trading - South Africa

The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for the execution and logistical coordination of my client’s commodities (metals) activity within Sub-Saharan Africa as well as processing of all accounting information (expenses) to the company’s accounting system.

Responsibilities:
Managing the logistical process regarding shipments from suppliers:
• Monthly Stock updates for Accounting/Insurance
• Checking Transport invoices
• Stock Monitoring: Tracking ingots and ensuring warehouse in/out figures
• Reconcile Load and disport weights
• Ensure advanced ocean bookings are made for correct allocations
• Reconcile inspection, warehouse and suppliers weight reports
• Follow exposures, for stock and pricing purposes
• Vat reconciliations for European shipments
• Confirming monthly averaging requirements for hedging
• Financing requests and payment follow ups
• Invoicing and bank releases
• Assay exchanges, and pricing declarations
• Requesting transportation quotes
• Booking and monitoring Trucking and ocean movements
• Maintain an active record of all stock movements, locations and status.
• Managing LC purchases and sales. Tracking the necessary documents required, and financing flows associated
• Updating the Metals System with all details; quantities, pricing, quality, shipments, invoices, in accordance with the contracts.
• Keep traders and regional controllers regularly advised of changes in status of shipments.

Shipments to and from smelter:
• Coordinating inspection company visits to the smelter
• Checking on rail/stock discrepancies identified
• Checking and arranging payment of logistics and inspection invoices
• Booking and managing all ocean shipments from Namibia, and all functions surrounding that
• Keep traders and regional controllers regularly advised of changes in status of shipments.

Requirements:
• At least 3 years logistics/smelting administration experience within the mining and metals sector
• Relevant degree or diploma
• Excel / Accounting packages /commodity software database management experience
• French language skills will be an advantage
• Good aptitude for numbers, and excellent attention to detail
