The mine closure specialist we perform assessments of mine closure liability calculations and rehabilitation provisions. The role will also involve assisting on a variety of mining related work in the company (such as internal audit).
Requirements
• Engineering degree ideally mining or environmental engineering, preferably with a postgraduate qualification
• At least 4 to 5 years experience in the mining sector with significant experience in either the compilation or auditing of mine closure cost calculations/assessments
• Good understanding of the environmental and social issues associated with mine closure and mine site rehabilitation
• Previous experience in multi-commodity/cross sector mining
• Proficient in the application of South African environmental and closure related legislation as well as a good understanding of international best practice in these areas
• Health and safety experience will be advantageous
• Previous experience in managing a team
• Excellent report writing and communication skills
• Ability to work as part of a team
